The founder of NGO Sewa Vahan, Satish Chopra, and one of the protesters seeking better health infrastructure in the city and the district, got his head shaved off on the 13th day of the sit-in on Sunday.

Chopra said while the dharna (sit-in) had completed 13 days, the failure of the Health Department officials and the district administration had made him get his head shaved off. He said the stir was aimed at attracting the attention of the authorities regarding the poor and inadequate infrastructure and facilities available for patients who get referred to hospitals in Delhi for the treatment of serious ailments. He said the 400-bed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Hospital at Chhainsa village in the district was yet to start the indoor admission of the patients due to negligence on part of the department concerned.

The demand of setting up a trauma centre in the district had also been pending for past many years.
