Following the recent attack in Ganderbal where seven people, including a doctor, were killed by terrorists, security has been tightened around major strategic projects in the Jammu division. From the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway to hydroelectric projects in the mountainous regions, J&K Police are maintaining heightened vigilance. Workers and private security personnel at these sites have been instructed to report any suspicious activity to the police.

Kathua Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shobhit Saxena visited a construction company campsite at Bhagthali to assess the security status and briefed security guards on the current threat landscape, assuring labourers and engineers of robust protective measures. Police contact information was also shared to facilitate quick reporting of any suspicious movements, fostering stronger ties between the police and the local community.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently instructed the J&K Police to enhance security frameworks around vital infrastructure projects and construction sites. He emphasised regular coordination with project agencies and directed security audits, 24/7 checkpoints at strategic locations, night patrolling, and area dominance.

These steps were implemented after two terrorists infiltrated a worksite for the Z-Morh tunnel project in Ganderbal, underscoring the need for reinforced security measures across critical projects in the region.
