Security beefed up ahead of Janmashtami
Malerkotla, August 24
Ahead of Janmashtami, which is scheduled to be celebrated on Monday, security has been beefed up at all localities falling under the jurisdiction of Malerkotla district. Organisers of various events have been asked to take proactive measures to prevent any mishap during the festival and invasion of anti-social elements.
Authorities claimed that vigil had been enhanced at and around the venues of Janmashtami celebrations, railway stations, bus stops and busy markets, thus necessitating rank and file in police to remain in the field.
Besides undertaking combing operations to keep a watch on anti-social elements, who might intrude the area under guise of devotees and visitors, specially constituted anti-sabotage teams have been directed to enhance vigil near the scheduled venues.
Cops, supervised by DSP (special branch ) Ranjit Singh, Malerkotla DSP Kuldeep Singh, DSP (H) Karamjit Singh and Ahmedgarh DSP Manavjit Singh Sidhu, undertook combing and search operations in the localities situated under their respective jurisdictions.
Showing satisfaction over proactive measures taken by organisers at various temples and security enhancement under the supervision of respective Circle Officers, SSP Gagan Ajit Singh said police personnel had been advised to remain cautious till the celebrations were concluded on Monday night.
“We have also provided tips to event organisers regarding caution to be observed to prevent mishaps due to electrocution or other reasons as well as installation of CCTV cameras at prominent places,” said Singh. He added that the traffic wing personnel had been advised to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
