The district administration has imposed Section 163 of the BNSS, which prohibits gathering of more than five people, apprehending communal tensions between members of the Dalit and Rajput communities.

The Dalits alleged that a person from a Rajput community was posting “casteist” remarks against them on Instagram, which led to the clash. The orders also apply on entry points of the state at Mehatpur and Haroli.

Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said the orders had been issued to prevent a communal clash between members of different castes.

Yesterday, a member of the Rajput community was thrashed by other group, said Lal, adding that a case was registered against members of the Dalit community. However, they also got an FIR filed under the SC/ST Act against several members of the Rajput community.

He said Section 163 of the BNSS had been imposed to avert clash between members of both the communities.
