In a second major fire incident in Bahadurgarh within three days, three adjoining factories in the HSIIDC industrial area of Sector 16 caught fire on Thursday. The fire, which started in the morning, took over five hours to extinguish, destroying raw materials, machinery, and products worth lakhs of rupees. Fortunately, no human casualties were reported, as the workers evacuated quickly.

Firefighters try to douse the flames in Bahadurgarh.

Narendra Chhikara, senior vice-president of Bahadurgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said the fire initially broke out in a chemical manufacturing unit when no workers were present. Flames were noticed by the factory’s watchman, who immediately alerted the fire brigade. Due to the highly flammable chemicals stored in the factory, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire facility.

“The fire was so intense that it quickly spread to two neighbouring factories — a footwear manufacturing unit and a cardboard production facility,” Chhikara explained. Workers in these factories initially tried to contain the blaze but were forced to evacuate after realising they could not control it.

Several fire tenders were dispatched to the site from Bahadurgarh, and additional fire engines were called from nearby cities, including Delhi, Rohtak, and Jhajjar, to help control the flames. The fire not only destroyed the factories but also caused significant damage to vehicles parked outside, including several two-wheelers. Electric wires and pillars near the factory were also severely damaged.

Factory owners and managers have been informed about the incident, and an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the fire. The extent of the financial loss is yet to be determined.

This fire follows a similar incident on October 14, when a footwear factory in HSIIDC Sector 17 was gutted in the early morning hours, causing heavy damage to raw materials and machinery.
