Mandi, August 13
The district administration has officially called off the search operation at Rajban village in Mandi district, even as a villager, Hardev, missing since the devastating flood on July 31, remained untraceable.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Madan Kumar made the announcement after extensive search efforts yielded no results.
Hardev was reported missing after a cloudburst caused severe flooding in Rajban village on July 31 midnight, leading to widespread destruction. Three houses were damaged completely and 11 persons were swept away. One person was rescued from the spot next morning in critical condition, while nine bodies were recovered during a two-week search operation.
“We have conducted a thorough search of the flood-affected area using all available resources, including drones, rescue teams and thermal imaging. Unfortunately, we have been unable to find any trace of the missing individual,” the ADM said. The administration has promised to continue support to those impacted by the flood.
