SDM Jashanjit Singh held a meeting with officials today, assigning cluster officers to prevent the burning of paddy stubble in fields. Additionally, a nodal officer has been appointed for each village. The SDM emphasised that any incident of stubble burning will result in legal action under the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), and the High Court. Individuals involved in such activities will also face a fine.

The SDM appealed to farmers to refrain from burning stubble and crop residue after the paddy harvest to prevent environmental degradation.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
