SD College lifts Zonal Youth Festival overall trophy

The three-day 47th Zonal Youth Festival, organised at Sanatan Dharma (SD) College, Ambala Cantonment, under the aegis of the Department of Youth and Cultural Affairs (DYCA), Kurukshetra University, concluded on Sunday.

The three-day festival witnessed participation of students from 18 colleges across the Ambala zone. Participants competed in 43 events during the festival. These events included music, dance, theatre, fine arts and literary competitions, which provided a platform for students to showcase their talents.

Dr Rajinder Singh, college Principal, Dr Vijay Sharma, co-ordinator of cultural activities, and Dr Sonika Sethi, organising secretary, honoured the chief guest.

Addressing winners of various events, the chief guest said youth had an important role in keeping alive the vanishing traditions and culture. Participants from various colleges of Haryana not only entertained the audience with their mesmerising performances, but also showcased their talent, he said.

College Principal Dr Rajinder Singh said students and winners who participated in the

function deserved congratulations. SD College, Ambala Cantonment, won all trophies in music, dance, literature, theatre, fine arts and lifted the overall trophy. The college won the overall trophy for the 46th time.

The events in which SD College secured first position are one act play, sang, clay modelling, mimicry, western group song, Haryanvi orchestra, Indian orchestra, Haryanvi group song, Haryanvi solo dance (male category), debate and quiz. GMN College, Ambala Cantonment, won the runners-up trophy.

While congratulating students, GMN College Principal Dr Rohit Dutt said with hard work and dedication, students had brought laurels to the institution. They should continue to give best performances in upcoming festivals too, he said.
