Jalandhar: Van Mahotsav was celebrated at PCM SD College for Women. Students of the Collegiate Block were encouraged to contribute in the drive since trees are natural air-purifiers. Emphasising on the need to protect and conserve the environment, Principal Pooja Prashar said: “It gives immense pleasure to see the high enthusiasm exhibited by the students who have come forth for the drive, which is encouraging, to mitigate the effect of climate change and help conserve the environment.” She said it was also important to nurture the saplings after planting to survive all odds and grow to full potential. Poster-making competition was also organised by the department of fine arts on the occasion. Jaspreet got the first prize, Siya Verma second, and Jasmeet third. Neetu received the first consolation prize, Anisha second and Kiran third. Members of the managing committee and Principal lauded the efforts of the students, staff members and the head of Collegiate Block, Sushma Sharma, as it was an enlightening activity for the good of the environment and that of mankind.

Hindi Rap competition organised

STS World School organised Jalandhar Sahodaya Inter-School Hindi Rap Competition on theme “Covid ke baad shiksha main badlaav” under the guidance of Principal Prabhjot Gill. Students from 20 Jalandhar Sahodaya schools participated. Result of the competition: First position—Chiraag, Sunil (Manav Sehyog School) and Puranjai Syal (Mayor World School), second—Savri (Bawa Lalwani Public School), third—Deepinder Kaur (Woodland Overseas School), first consolation—Abza Dorbala (Kamla Nehru Public School), second consolation—Dhairya (Swami Sant Dass Public School), third consolation—Arshdeep Kaur (Saffron Public School), fourth consolation prize— Aaishmeen (La Blossoms School and Jai Mahajan (MGN Public School). Tips and remarks were given by Dr Kulwinder Singh to all students so as to enhance their knowledge .

Clubs to help students improve skills

To improve skills and knowledge of students, various clubs were formed in Emm Aar International School, Adampur, in which exciting activities will be conducted throughout the session 2022-2023 under the leadership of Principal Navdeep Vashista. Club activities, included music club, sports, yoga, maths, language, swimming and creativity club. Students of grades I to VIII chose the clubs as per their interests, shared ideas, and enjoyed learning from each other during club activities. Efforts were made to make proficient in language and mathematics through the medium of English and maths club. Every first and third Saturday will be utilised to unwind hidden talent of the children and will be nurtured through the medium of different clubs, School director Simmi Tandon said.

school holds Declamation Contest

A declamation contest was held in The Nobel School, Kartarpur, for the personal development of students. The students of grade VII-XII participated with great enthusiasm in the activity. Moulik, Pavani, Sukhdeep of grade VII gave their views on road safety. Ritika, Kriti of grade VIII gave their views on clean India. Sukhmaan, Adit, Milanpreet of grade IX gave their views on child labour. Prabhleen, Gurmaan of grade X gave their views on women empowerment. Jasmeen of grade XI gave her views on organ donation. Biraja of grade XII gave his views on banning plastic. Jasmeen of grade XI bagged the first position. Ritika of grade VIII bagged the second position. Moulik of grade VII bagged the third position. Principal Amita Sharma praised the efforts of students and honoured the position holders. They inspired the students to participate more and showcased their inner skills.

Appreciation Ceremony for faculty held

In an endeavour to promote research in academicians, Innocent Hearts Group of Institutions organised an appreciation ceremony to facilitate the faculty members, who have published quality research papers in UGC-approved and peer-reviewed journals in India and abroad. The academic panel has appreciated four eligible faculty members: Dr Gagandeep Kaur, Assistant Prof Divakar Joshi, Ankush Sharma and Assistant Prof Bishal Mishra with certificates for publishing their work in UGC-approved and peer-reviewed journals. Dr Shailesh Tripathi (group director) congratulated the winners and applauded their efforts. He emphasised the importance of research in academics.

Apeejay students get job offers

Students of Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus have been selected in various companies. Three students of the institute have been selected in TCS. The entire placement process was conducted online ensuring the safety of students. The students appeared for a national-level online aptitude test. The students who cleared the aptitude test then appeared for online interview round. The three students who were selected as associate engineers in TCS are Ojas of BCA, and Vanshika and Jaleen of BTech. They are offered a package of Rs 3.2 lakh. Dr Rajesh Bagga, director, Apeejay Institute of Management and Engineering Technical Campus, congratulated the students for getting lucrative jobs and motivated them to work sincerely in their respective organisations.

Monsoon party for tiny tots

A party was organised for the little ones on monsoon theme at DIPS School Urban Estate. The main objective of the party was to inform the children about the monsoon season. Teachers Blessy, Juhi, Ritu, Vandana decorated the school park with various decorations. After that, together with the children, they made ponds in the soil and filled it with water. Along with this, the swimming pool was also filled with water. Together they made a frog, a boat out of paper and released it into the water. After this the teachers told the children that like the summer and winter, the monsoon season is also very important for us. The heat on the earth is reduced through rain and the weather becomes pleasant. The children enjoyed the party by eating corn, fritters and dancing on the songs Rimjhim Gire Sawan, Chak Dhoom-Dhoom, Barso Re Megha-Megha. Making the party memorable, the children planted a sapling each in the school garden. The teachers said that by next year these junior plants will become senior. Principal Meenakshi Mehta said we should collect rain water at home so that we can use it again. Plants grow very quickly in this season, so we should plant more and more plants around our house. Along with this, the risk of diseases is also high, so one should take care of one’s health and take a healthy diet.

oath-taking ceremony organised

An oath taking and batch ceremony was organised at St Soldier Divine Public School, Mithu Basti. On the directions of Principal Divpreet Kaur, Pulkit as Head Boy, Priya as Head Girl, Arshdeep as Vice Head Boy, Chhavi as Vice Head Girl, as well as Rajneesh as Chhatrapati Shivaji House Captain, Mokshi Bavoria as Captain of Maharana Pratap House, Vishal Mand was selected as the Captain of Guru Gobind Singh House, Charu was elected as the Captain of Maharaja Ranjit Singh House. On the occasion, monitors of different classes were selected. Apart from this, all selected students, staff members took oath to strive to maintain discipline in the institution. Principal Divpreet Kaur felicitated the students with batches and sachets and explained their responsibilities towards the institution.

3-week worshop on anchoring

Students awaiting their Class XII results tried their hand at ‘Anchoring and Stage Craft’ at a three-week workshop organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Theatre and Stage Craft at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar. They learnt the basic of anchoring for TV and stage along with different programme formats. Principal Neerja Dhingra said in today’s times when social media had become a rage, everyone is producing and anchoring videos and one cannot be untouched by this phenomena. The workshop will established the basic skills and other technicalities required for the same which will be useful for them in their career. During the workshop, students learn about formal, semi-formal and informal anchoring along with script writing. Elements of stage design, importance of lights, makeup and costume, production process were also taught. Students enjoyed the learning process thoroughly and practised by completing their assignments.

kindergarten kids celebrate Green Day

State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, celebrated green day with the joyful and ambitious kindergarten kids. It was alluring to see them all ready in green outfits with grand and satisfying smile on their faces. They were told about the importance of this colour. They were told that one of the seven colours of the rainbow, green is the colour of positivity. They see it in the grass and trees that grow around us every day. It also rejuvenates all of us and encourages to nurture ourselves and our loved ones. Also, they brought lunch boxes full of green cuisines. They did lot of activities and had fun with their mentors. President Narotam Singh and vice-president Gagandeep Kaur along with Principal Savina Bahl were overwhelmed to see the sparkling faces enjoying their day.
