iOS 18.1 release date: iPhone users know what to expect
Apple has confirmed to roll out the awaited iOS 18.1 update this week with Apple Intelligence features, bug fixes, and others. While the official release date still stays under the covers, it is expected that eligible iPhone users will get a new update on October 28.
The upcoming iOS 18.1 update will introduce several new tools, including enhanced writing features for drafting emails or messages, composing smart replies, and summarizing long email threads. Additionally, Apple’s intelligence features will enable the transcription and summarisation of voice recordings in the Notes app.
A new Clean-up tool will be introduced to the Photos app, which will allow users to remove unwanted objects from images without altering the subject. Users will also be able to instruct their iPhone to create a short movie from stored photos and videos.
iOS 18.1 is also anticipated to bring a native voice call recording feature, which will be available only in select regions.
Following this, Apple is set to release iOS 18.2 intelligence features in December 2024, with the rollout expected to be complete by April-May 2025.
In iOS 18.2 update, Apple plans to introduce the option to integrate ChatGPT with the Siri assistant.
