Mahatma Gandhi, fondly known as 'Bapu', played an important role in India's struggle for freedom. His principles of non-violence, truth and civil disobedience shaped the course of India's struggle for independence. But what if I were Mahatma Gandhi? What actions would I take?

Firstly, I would embrace 'Ahimsa' as a core philosophy in my life. While Gandhi was steadfast in his belief that violence should never be used, I might consider the necessity of defense against some of the brutal atrocities. My next focus would be on spreading mass awareness. If I were in his position, I would intensify efforts to educate people on the real consequences of British colonial rule, including looting, harassment, exploitation and systemic oppression. I would aim to reinforce integrity, unity and solidarity among the people binding them with the driving force of the national movement by standing against discrimination and letting the women take part in large numbers as well, thereby incorporating Women Empowerment in the state. Address people about the social evils and keeping a firm point that reducing these will increase the effect of driving out the British from our nation and bring Independence and sovereignty to our Motherland. A united, socially just nation would be far more resilient in the face of colonial oppression.

When it comes to nationwide movements like the Non-Cooperation and the Civil Disobedience, I would take a more patient approach. Gandhi often halted these movements when instances of violence occurred, but if I were in his place, I would continue to push forward while working to crush any violent outbreaks. It's important to stay committed to the broader goal and help people understand that true power lies in peaceful resistance. Boycotting British goods was a central part of Gandhi's strategy. I would take this further by promoting self-reliance in every sector, from agriculture to industry. In conclusion, while no one can truly replicate the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi, his legacy offers profound lessons. Gandhi's decisions were the foundation of modern India, and following his teachings is the least we can do as the citizens of this diverse and vibrant nation.
