Students of the school celebrated Constitution Day with the visiting professors and scholars of Curtin University, Perth, Australia. The Australians have come to the university to attend an international conference on “Science, Mathematics, Technology and Education-Making and Shaping the Future”, sponsored by the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, and Belmont Rotary Club, Perth. They spent the day with the schoolchildren. The programme commenced with Prabhnoor Kaur of Class XI (Arts) extending a formal welcome to the distinguished guests. NCC cadet Jatin spoke on Indian Constitution and its significance for the day-to-day governance of the country. Then the visitors addressed a range of issues from environmental challenges and sustainability to Indo-Australian cooperation in various spheres. Students posed queries to them and they answered to their full satisfaction. Dr Balraj Saini, Dean, College Development Council, presided over the function. The programme culminated with the Australians planting saplings on the school campus. School student Aamin Maini won a consolation prize in the poster-making competition, which was part of the conference. The programme was compered by Gagandeep Singh and organised by school Principal Satvir Singh Gill. All school students and teachers were present on the occasion.
