The Interact Club of the school spread awareness on the need for a ‘Green Diwali’ through a skit, which was presented before an audience of more than 3,000 students. The enactment highlighted concerns like child labour, ignorance, environmental hazards and burn injuries. Club activists visited Vatika - School for Deaf and Dumb in Sector 19, to carry out their campaign ‘Say No to Crackers’. Through gestures, songs, dances, speeches and sign language they reached out to the students to give them the message of an eco-friendly Diwali. The audience was enthralled by the spectacular performances. Refreshments were also distributed among the children to mark the auspicious occasion. Members of the club and senior Rotarians joined hands to participate in a rally at Sukhna Lake to raise awareness regarding eradication of polio. Principal Reverend Sister Venita urged the students to make a conscious effort to celebrate the festival of lights in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. She greeted them on the occasion and wished them a brighter and greener Diwali. She advised them to say ‘No’ to crackers and ‘Yes’ to a healthier tomorrow.
