The National Achievement Survey (NAS) is scheduled for November 12 while the first-semester of Board exams of classes X and XII are expected anytime near second week of November but teachers and principals are worried over “non-serious” approach of students towards the Board Exams. They feel since this would be the first batch to take Board exams twice, students are taking a casual approach towards the November tests, which will be based on MCQs.

Talking to The Tribune, Harmit Kaur Waraich, Principal, Nankana Sahib Pubic School, said the date-sheet of board exams is expected anytime, perhaps by evening today. “We expect exams to start from near November 15. The NAS test is on November 12, many students are preparing for that too. But otherwise, students are taking these exams lightly and feel that these are of just 40 marks each. But this will definitely cast shadow over their final marks. They need to score well in these tests to get a good percentage in the finals. We are trying to tell them but many of them are too casual to understand the importance of these tests,” said Waraich.

Gunika, a student of class XII agreed that the feel of Board exams was yet to sink in. “These are festival days and the atmosphere is of festivity all over. We don’t feel like studying. We have just finished with our school tests and again in November, the Board exams will begin. Though all are saying it is for our benefit, we feel that annual system is better, at least we study with dedication for two months but here, throughout the year, we have to study,” she said.
