Prepare an outline

An outline helps organise your piece. Before you start writing, you need to make a plan about the information you want to include. Your outline should have the topic at the top.

Setting the tone

Write the sentences in first person. Make a list of points you want to include in the piece. There should be an introduction paragraph at the beginning.

Making framework

After introduction, comes the middle section, called the body. Here you will cover all points you included in your outline.

Concluding the piece

After describing your experience, try to end the topic. Make sure the ending does not sound abrupt.

For example: Your topic is ‘How I Am Spending Time Indoors’.

So your outline will be as below.

Topic: How I Am Spending Time Indoors

Introduction points: Human beings are social animals; staying in isolation not easy; but one has to understand the demand of time (up to 60 words)

Body: 2 paragraphs

First paragraph: What made you choose to remain indoors; initial difficulties you faced; the thought of not going to school seemed amusing at first, but its repercussions not good; no proper routine; studies suffer; not getting to meet friends; makes students dull (100-150 words)

Second paragraph: Incidents about rising death tolls across the world helped understand gravity of situation; resolved to utilise the time doing productive things; get up as per usual school time; exercise; have breakfast; read books; play indoor games; help mother in kitchen; dust and clean the room; best-out-waste activities; talk to friends over video call; finish online assignments (100-150 words)

Conclusion: For this piece, you can conclude with the points: it is said that tough times don’t last forever; this situation will also be over one day; we should not be depressed over it and spend quality time with our family. Some years down the line, we will have our quarantine experiences to share with each other. (up to 60 words)
