DC Model School, Panchkula
The day at the school began with a ceremonial worship of Goddess Lakshmi, invoking blessings of prosperity and well-being for all. Kindergarten tiny tots and teachers gathered for a traditional prayer, filling the venue with an aura of devotion and reverence. The rituals included lighting diyas, offering flowers, and chanting prayers, fostering a deep connection to Diwali’s cultural and spiritual essence. Besides this, a Diwali handicraft exhibition was organised to bring together students’ creativity and cultural enthusiasm in celebration of the festival. The venue was adorned with traditional Indian decor, festive diyas in every hue, handcrafted torans, vibrant candles, and intricate rangoli patterns, setting a festive and welcoming ambience. The exhibition was a testament to wholehearted participation, showcasing the students’ dedication and festive cheer. Students took pride in presenting their work and explaining the stories and ideas behind their creations, which made the experience both educational and personal for visitors. The use of eco-friendly materials was a powerful call to action, urging everyone to make conscious choices that benefit our planet. School Director Usha Gupta stated that “by embracing sustainable alternatives, we can celebrate festivals like Diwali while minimising our environmental impact and promoting a healthier future for generations to come”. Principal Deepika Bhardwaj strongly advocated for a Green Diwali and a pollution-free celebration, urging students and their families to embrace sustainable practices during the festival.
