The Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Global Youth Federation and the school held an informative session on ‘Clean and Green Diwali’ for the students of classes VI-VIII. The key speaker of the event was Dr Nihal from the Department of Environment. The session sensitised the students to harmful effects of fire crackers on the environment and health. The session also promoted ways in which children could celebrate eco-friendly Diwali by buying decorative material, which is eco-friendly. The students were also motivated to make a conscious effort to celebrate a sparkling Diwali, while being kind to our planet by embracing eco-friendly practices. The interactive session concluded on a positive note whereby students took a pledge to denounce crackers and practise Green Diwali. The team also distributed beautiful gift packs containing ‘diyas’ and ‘bati’ among the students.
