4 schools closed in Mohali due to non-compliance

The Sub Divisional Magistrates of three Sub-Divisions conducted a surprise check of the schools in their respective areas and ordered the closure of four schools due to non-compliance of safety protocols.
After the reports of Ludhiana district, Mohali administration has decided to ensure 100% vaccination of school staff. The teams of administration in collaboration with the education department conducted a checking drive in Jitender Veer Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School Sector-71 and Smart Wonder School Sector-71 under the supervision of SDM (SDM) Mohali Harbans Singh to know about the teaching staff’s vaccination status. The vaccination record of school staff has been checked thoroughly for the safeguard of students. He informed that Principal Kavita Attri of Sarvhitkari School has not taken a single dose of Covid-19, while seven teachers have been administered only the first dose of vaccination. The sweeper and babysitter also have not been administered the first dose of vaccination.
“Orders have been issued to close the school till further instructions due to non-compliance of COVID protocols. Records of Smart Wonders School were found appropriate during the checking’’, said Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner.
SDM Kharar Aakash Bansal has conducted an inspection in DAV Model Senior Secondary School, Kurali and found that 18 staff members have been administered only a single dose of vaccination, which is a clear-cut violation of norms. He also said that the presence of students exceeded 80 per cent of the total strength against the stipulated 50 per cent.
Meanwhile, SDM Dera Bassi has conducted checking in two schools Manav Mangal Smart School, Zirakpur and Delhi World Public School, Zirakpur. He said that 52 staff members of Manav Mangal Smart School have not been administered a second dose of vaccination, whereas 27 staff members of Delhi World Public School have not taken the second dose of vaccination. The SDMs concerned have issued orders to close the schools till further directions.
“Police have been told to take stern action against the erring schools for violations of the administrative orders as this is the matter of safety of our younger generation, said Dayalan.
