An important meeting (2024-25) of Sahodaya School Complex, Gurdaspur, of CBSE schools was held at St Kabir Public School, Sultanpur. The meeting was held under an arrangement by school administrators Navdeep Kaur and Kuldeep Kaur and was presided over by Principal SB Nair, president of Sahodaya Group. Principals of 10 schools of Sahodaya Group participated in the meeting. During the meeting, solving common problems faced by the students, proper size of curricula in school education (NCF), supporting students and teachers according to pedagogy, all-round development of students, solving problems during exams, promoting sports like volleyball, basketball and kho-kho by conducting inter-school competitions, proper use of technology along with studies, inculcating strong and positive thinking in students was discussed in line with NEP (2019). Apart from this, the CBSE decided to award two best teachers and students every year from the schools belonging to the Sahodaya Group. In the end, president SB Nair thanked all the principals present and hoped that everyone would take the initiative to implement the policies and guidelines of the CBSE after proper discussions.

Workshop on menstrual health

A special workshop was organised at Bhavans SL Public School for awareness related to menstrual health and safety among adolescents. Director Dr Anita Bhalla and Principal Sonia Sahdev presented a bouquet to Dr Sheetal Berry (Homeopathic physician) and Dr Roman Berry. Five hundred girls from Grade 6 to 9 attended the workshop. She explained the entire menstrual cycle to the girls. She said that teenage girls should have some knowledge about this. If we practice yoga, pranayama and mudras, we can get a solution to the related problems, she said. While providing knowledge to the adolescent girls regarding food habits during this time, they were told to consume more food rich in protein, iron and calcium and reduce the consumption of sugar and salt. The adolescent girls also asked questions related to their problems and got their solutions. All the students and teachers participated in this workshop enthusiastically. Dr Anita Bhalla praised Dr Sheetal and Ruman for the success of the workshop and expressed her gratitude to them.

Cadet Manthan shines in art festival

Cadet Manthan from the School of Eminence, Chheharta, won the second place in zonal-level competitions being conducted under Samgra Shiksha Abhiyan. Giving information in this regard, Manmeet Kaur, principal of the school, said that in the zonal-level competition under Art Utsav in Amritsar district that saw participation from the four districts of Gurdaspur, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran and Amritsar, Cadet Manthan won the second place in the painting competition. The art festival is conducted every year, first at the block level and then at the district level. The winning students then participate in the zonal-level competition.
