School notes: Janmashtami celebrated

Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh

The primary wing of the school celebrated Janmashtami with a lively event. The celebration, organised under the aegis of the Human Excellence Cell-Sanskara, featured a diverse programme that highlighted traditional values. The day began with a serene prayer ceremony and a meaningful shloka. Class I and III students entertained the audience with a dance performance. The celebrations were also marked at the school’s branch at New Chandigarh.

A book symposium was organised by the library faculty of the school to promote the habit of reading amongst students. Students shared a platform, wherein they presented their insights on famous books authored by Asian-origin writers such as Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Malala Yusufzai and Sudha Murty, among others. Palaknoor and Gunashree of Class IX claimed the first and second positions, respectively, followed by Medha and Milit of Class VIII and X, sharing the third position. Principal Aruna Dhiman lauded the efforts of the participants. She talked about the importance of reading books apart from the ones prescribed in the curriculum.

Yadavindra Public School, Mohali

Kindergarteners of the school celebrated the vibrant festival of Janmashtami with enthusiasm. A small altar was set up with an idol of Ladoo Gopal. It was decorated with flowers and a cradle symbolising his birth. A fun and exciting MatkiPhod activity was also organised. The activity was met with cheers and laughter as the children enjoyed the thrill of the challenge.

PMLSD Public School, Chandigarh

The school celebrated Janmashtamin on campus. Tiny tots of ‘Petals’ (a unit of the school) came traditionally dressed up, representing Radha and Krishna. They also participated in dance performance.

Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh

‘Twirls of Freedom’, an inter-school dance competition, was organised at the school. AKSIPS, Sector 41; Chitkara International School, Sector 25; and Delhi Public School, Sector 40, won medals in the group dance event. In the couples dance, New Public School, Sector 18; AKSIPS and Mount Carmel School bagged medals. Delhi Public School; Ankur School and ATS Valley School, Dera Bassi, claimed medals in the solo dance event.

Gurukul Global School

Janmashtami was celebrated with grandeur at the school. A special assembly was organised in which students from the junior and senior schools participated enthusiastically. The students enthralled the audience with a dramatic play that depicted the life of Lord Krishna. The festivities continued with spirited dance performances set to the melodious tunes of songs depicting Radha and Krishna.
