Save trees, save life
Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?

Save trees, save life
There is a shortage of beds and oxygen in hospitals amid the second wave of Covid in India. Experts say that if more trees had been installed, there would never have been any shortage of oxygen in the country. We did not fully utilise the natural resources that we have. I urge all readers to plant more and more trees this monsoon. We, residents of Sector 20, Panchkula, also request the authorities to save the mango orchard (adjacent to Suncity Parikrama) as it has turned into a garbage dumping site. – Akhil Goel, Panchkula
Tricity authorities should work in tandem
First Mohali, then Panchkula and now Chandigarh has extended the curfew. Wouldn’t it be better if these three cities work in tandem? They should work out together to impose uniform restrictions in the tricity. The decision-makers need to work under one umbrella as these three cities are interlinked and inter-city movement of people is very high. The officials concerned should unite to fight the common enemy, Covid-19, in the tricity. – Vidya Sagar Garg, Panchkula
Black marketing unethical
I feel people minting money by black marketing everything related to Covid treatment these days is unethical. We have miserably failed in producing honest citizens in all walks of life. We have to learn to behave from countries like Japan, at least during a pandemic. We have stooped down to such levels that I feel pity for the sorry state of affairs caused by the governance, which too feeds on corruption. We have to identify criminals of all kinds and take practical measures, including debarring them from contesting any election at any level as a political reform. – Prof MM Goel, Kurukshetra
Install CCTV cameras at Covid centres
The health department should install CCTV cameras at Covid care centres so that family members of patients can keep tabs on their progress. These cameras will go a long way in bringing transparency and boosting the morale of anxious families waiting within hospitals or at home. – Ramit Bagga, Panchkula
