Satish appointed first Dalit chairman of Railway Board
New Delhi, August 27
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Satish Kumar of the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Indian Railway Board.
Kumar, who is the first Dalit chairman of the Railway Board, will hold charge till his superannuation and his re-employment on a contract basis w.e.f. January 1, 2025, till August 31, 2025, on usual terms and conditions, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, said the DoPT notification.
Kumar will replace Jaya Verma Sinha, who has been appointed as the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) administrative member. Sinha will retire from the Board on August 31. After that, she will join the CAT as an administrative member.
