Sahnewal, July 27

Newly elected Member of Parliament from Faridkot Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa has said he would be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah tomorrow to put forth his three demands. He said Amritpal Singh is languishing in the Dibrugarh jail despite the fact that the public had given the mandate in his favour and proved that he was a man of their choice. “No government can ignore the mandate since none is above the electorate. If the public has canvassed for votes in favour of Amritpal and assured that he wins with a huge margin, no government or court can overlook this. He has to be released and I am putting forth this demand strongly in front of Home Minister Amit Shah when I meet him tomorrow,” he added.

Further, the punishment for sacrilege should be death rather than a few years of imprisonment. Also, the legal guarantee for MSP and other genuine demands of the farmers shall be put forth before the minister, he said listing the third demand.

Earlier, Khalsa along with Tarsem Singh, father of jailed Waris Punjab De leader and MP Amritpal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Agwan, nephew of Indira Gandhi assassin Satwant Singh, paid obeisance at the historic Gurudwara Reru Sahib in Sahnewal.

Former MP Rajinder Kaur Bulara was also present on the occasion.
