An inmate of Sangrur district jail allegedly attacked two warders of the jail, tore their uniforms, removed the turban of one of them and injured the other. The incident reportedly occurred when the warders during checking recovered a mobile phone from the inmate.

According to information, on the complaint of an Assistant Superintendent of the district jail, the Sangrur city police station-1 have registered a case against the jail inmate Sandeep Singh, who is a resident of Sangrur, under Section 52 of the Prison Act and Sections 115 (2), 132, 121 (1) and 221 of the BNS.

In his complaint, the Assistant Superintendent of the jail has stated that on secret information a checking was conducted in ward-8 of the jail. During the checking, the warders recovered from Sandeep Singh a mobile phone, without battery and sim. When the checking was going on, Sandeep attacked the warders, Gurwinder Singh and Gursewak Singh. Sandeep also punched the face of Gursewak while Gurwinder suffered a minor injury. He also tore their uniforms and removed the turban of Gursewak.
