The police have registered a case of illegal river sand mining and alleged assault on the team of the officials of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau (HSEB) which had gone for checking at a village in the district.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, the incident took place near Achheja village in the district on Tuesday when three persons driving tractor trolleys laden with sand from the Yamuna river allegedly misbehaved and manhandled the officials. The govt officials had asked them to produce permission or documents regarding the sand being carried by them during a checking drive. It is reported that all three persons, who were driving tractor trolleys, managed to flee from the spot along with their vehicles after pushing officials who tried to stop them. Two policemen accompanying the team were also pushed away by the accused after they tried to take control of their tractors and fled away with their vehicles.

The police have registered a case under various sections including assault, obstruction in government duty and illegal mining of sand against the accused identified as Jagga of Korali and Chhote and Bhuru of Khatka village in the district. The accused are likely to be nabbed soon, said Prakash Chand, a police official.
