A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), led by urban constituency in-charge Ranjit Singh Khurana and rural constituency in-charge Rajinder Singh Chandi, met SDM, Phagwara, Jasanjeet Singh on Monday and submitted a memorandum demanding the prompt release of voter lists and ward delimitation for the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections.

The leaders highlighted delays in implementing the schedule issued by the Punjab State Election Commission on November 12, which outlined timelines for revision of voter lists. According to the schedule, voter lists were to be released on November 14, with claims and objections invited from November 18 to 25, and their disposal by December 3. The final publication of voter lists is slated for December 7.

Khurana expressed concern that neither the voter lists nor the ward delimitation details had been made public yet, which could impede the process of raising claims or objections. He urged the administration to expedite the release of these documents to ensure transparency and allow political parties and residents sufficient time to file their submissions.
