SAD MLAs walkout of Punjab Assembly over questioning of Kartarpur devotees

Punjab Assembly witnessed an uproar on Thursday as SAD MLAs objected to the questioning of devotees, returning from Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan.
SAD MLA Sharanjit Dhillon sought an assurance from the Treasury benches that devotees would not be harassed.
Cabinet minister Sukhjinder Randhawa said the questioning was being done on orders of the IB, a central agency. Randhawa read out a February 17 order from IB in this regard.
SAD leader Bikram Majithia sought the suspension of Punjab police officers over the “harassment” of devotees. SAD MLAs gathered at the Well of the House and then walked out of the Assembly.
AAP MLA Harpal Cheema said the Congress was “double-faced”. He targeted DGP Dinkar Gupta and demanded an explanation from Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.
Rebel AAP MLA Kanwar Sandhu linked the harassment of devotees with the statement of the DGP on the Kartarpur corridor. He said the matter needed to be enquired.
AAP MLAs wear masks, say Cong govt afflicted with ‘karo-na’ virus
AAP MLAs wore face masks to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Thursday to send the message that the Congress government “was afflicted with coronavirus.”
AAP MLA Aman Arora said he wanted to send across the message that the Congress government was afflicted with coronavirus or ‘karo-na-virus’.
AAP’s jibe came after Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had said that delivery of smartphones, one of the government’s poll promises, had been held up due to coronavirus in China.

Cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi objected to AAP MLAs sporting the face mask and said it was against the rules of the House.
