SAD leaders stage protest, demand repair of roads
SAD (B) leaders led by Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Fatehgarh Sahib halka in-charge, today staged a protest over the deteriorating condition of the roads in the district. They raised slogans against the state government and warned the government to start repair works of the roads particularly leading to historical gurdwaras immediately, otherwise they would stage a dharna.
Addressing the media, Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Mohan Singh Makaronpur, district president, and Avtar Singh Riya, former junior vice president of SGPC, said the roads in the urban as well as rural areas of the district were in a deplorable condition, waiting for major accidents to take place as large potholes had developed.
They said, besides this, all the development projects in the district had come to standstill. Even the roads in front of the DC office, civil hospital, Lincoln College road, Sirhind town to Sirhind city connecting road, Bassi Pathana main road, road connecting the historical gurdwaras of Fatehgarh Sahib and Jyoti Swarup Sahib, and Bassi Pathana to Chandigarh road had developed potholes, making commuters life hard. They dubbed the AAP government as a government of slogans without substance, adding that the AAP were adept at putting hoardings everywhere highlighting their achievements without accomplishing anything tangible.
They demanded repair of all roads before the Shaheedi Jor Mela.
