Rs 6.45 lakh, gold stolen from Panchkula house
Thieves decamped with gold worth Rs 2.25 lakh and cash amounting to Rs 6.45 lakh from a house in Sector 12A on Thursday.
Sudhir Kumar, a resident of Sector 12A who works in architecture and construction, said he and his wife had gone to get their son back home from school at around 1.40 pm and returned at 2.15pm. He said within 25 minutes of their absence from the house, they returned to a broken lock on their front door.
He said the thieves broke into their house and decamped with cash and gold ornaments, including a mangal-sutra, earrings, and rings, among other items worth Rs 8.70 lakh.
The Panchkula police have registered a case against the unidentified persons under Sections 305 (theft) and 331 (house-tresspass) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
