Rs 30 cr not released for land transfer to Central varsity: BJP
Dharamsala, July 18
The BJP has targeted Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for not releasing Rs 30 crore for the transfer of forestland to the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) in the Jadrangal area of the Dharamsala Assembly constituency. It has threatened to launch an agitation if the government does not disburse the funds immediately.
BJP state spokesperson Sanjay Sharma, while talking to mediapersons today, said that during the Lok Sabha elections and the Assembly byelections, the Chief Minister had promised to the voters in Dharamsala that he had got re-evaluated the estimate of the land to be allotted for setting up a campus of the CUHP and the government would release Rs 15 crore after June 4 for transferring forestland at Jadrangal in the name of the CUHP. However, now over a month had passed since June 4 but the government had not released money for the transfer of forestland at Jadrangal to the CUHP, the spokesperson added.
Sharma alleged, “The Chief Minister does not want that the campus of the CUHP to come up in Jadrangal. Sukhu has been dithering on releasing Rs 30 crore required for the purpose. If the Congress government fails to release the money for the CUHP campus, it will be tantamount to the violation of an undertaking given by the state government to the Union Ministry of Human Resources. The BJP will not tolerate it and will start an agitation over the issue.”
