Rs 293 crore Central aid okayed for road projects: Vikramaditya Singh
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said here today that Rs 293.36 crore have been approved under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the financial year 2024-25. The minister said that approved projects include five roads and a bridge for improving the connectivity and infrastructure in various parts of the state.
The minister said the Public Works Department had continuously and strongly presented the state’s case before the Central government to meet the infrastructure needs of the state. “Under the guidance of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the efforts of the department, this amount has been sanctioned from the Centre for major projects in Shimla, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi districts,” said the minister.
He said the approved works include Rs 54.87 crore for the upgrade of 52-km-long Tikkar-Jarol-Gahan-Nankhari-Khamadi road in Shimla, Rs 41.10 crore for 20-km-long Sujanpur Tehra-Sandhol road in Hamirpur, Rs 79.25 crore for 37-km-long Navgaon-Beri road in Hamirpur, Rs 86.34 crore for construction of 828-metre high level bridge over Gaj Khad in Kangra and Rs 31.80 crore for upgrade of 9.6-km-long Bakhrot-Karsog-Sanarali-Sainj road in Mandi.
Reiterating his commitment to improve infrastructure in the state, Vikramaditya Singh said that these projects would not only improve the condition of roads but will also boost the economic development of the state and living standards of the people in these areas.
