Giving a stern warning to curb the issue of stray cattle, the Revenue and Disaster Management, Urban Local Bodies, and Civil Aviation Minister, Vipul Goel, said action would be taken against those who abandoned their livestock on roads.

The step aims to reduce road hazards and improve safety for both animals and the public.

Goel was in the city on the occasion of Gopashtami on Saturday to inaugurate a cow hospital at Shri Krishna Gaushala. He, along with Swami Gyananand Maharaj, inaugurated the hospital.

“Fines of Rs 5,100 and Rs 11,000 will be imposed on those leaving cattle unattended on streets. After the fine, the cattle left on roads will be sent to gaushalas,” said the minister.

He said abandoning cattle on roads was dangerous. “We urge cattle owners to be responsible and avoid actions that endanger others and create obstacles on public roads. The government will take all necessary steps to address this issue seriously,” he said.

Swami Gyananand Maharaj spoke on the historical and spiritual significance of Gopashtami, recounting that it was on this day in Dwapar Yuga that Lord Krishna began grazing cows after worshipping them. He urged attendees to dedicate themselves to the service, protection, and preservation of cows in keeping with the tradition.

Throughout the day, devotees performed rituals and prayed for the well-being of cows, marking the festival as a time of devotion and renewal of vows for the protection of cattle.
