After rolling out 20 special buses yesterday to facilitate college girls reach their educational institutes from various villages of the Meham area, the Department of State Transport has fixed route and time-schedule for these vehicles so that students do not face any inconvenience to avail the facility. Roadways inspectors have also been deputed to ensure smooth operation of the service.

A few days ago, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had issued orders to ply 20 special buses for girl students of different villages of the Meham area who were pursuing higher education in various educational institutes of Rohtak city. The orders were issued after former MLA Balraj Kundu discontinued free bus services, being run by him for girl students, after he lost the recent Assembly election to Congress candidate Balram Dangi from Meham constituency. A large number of girls from the Meham area go to Rohtak every day for higher studies.

“The route and timing of the buses has been fixed for proper operation. Roadways officials have been deputed to ensure that the buses ply on time. Traffic controller Naveen Kumar has been appointed as the overall in-charge. Inspectors Suresh Ranga and Satbir have been appointed as nodal officers for the return of buses in the morning while sub-inspectors Shravan and Sanjeev Kumar have been assigned this duty in the evening,” said Bharat Bhushan Gogia, General Manager, Rohtak Depot, Haryana Roadways.

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar said the arrival and departure timings of all women buses coming from the Meham area had been fixed so that girl students, who attend colleges in Rohtak, do not face any problem in

commuting.

“For this, necessary guidelines have been issued to the roadways administration,” the Deputy Commissioner said. Apart from women buses, necessary instructions have also been issued regarding the smooth operation of other buses in the district so that the general public does not face any problem in commuting,” the DC added.

Service started on CM’s orders

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had ordered to start the bus service after former MLA Balraj Kundu discontinued free bus services on losing Assembly polls to Congress candidate Balram Dangi from Meham.
