Ropar DC inspects de-addiction centre
Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Himanshu Jain today inspected the de-addiction centre at the Civil Hospital to take stock of the health facilities being provided to the patients here.
He also inspected the dialysis unit, mother child hospital, and the general ward and instructed the staff to attend to the needs of the patients sincerely. Jain reviewed the working of the centre and infrastructure needed for better treatment.
The 2017 batch IAS officer, who continues to hold the charge of Additional Principal Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister, said, “The topmost priority of the Punjab Government is the Health Department. Almost Rs 1 crore will be spent on various facilities at the hospital to provide best services to the residents here.”
Later on, Jain met the inmates and encouraged them to lead a healthy lifestyle by giving up drugs. Giving assurance to them, Jain said that after completing their treatment, the administration would provide them full assistance to get a job and contribute to society.
Jain, who took charge as the Deputy Commissioner here on September 16, interacted with the psychiatrist Kanwarbir Singh Gill and also discussed ways to promote yoga, spirituality and exercise among the inmates to strengthen their self-confidence and will power.
During the festival season, the food safety teams will take samples of food products. “A mechanism will be devised where sweetshops are given star ratings so that consumers know which shop is the most hygienic. This will encourage business enterprises to follow public hygiene to increase their consumer base,” he added.
