A 62-year-old woman was killed by robbers at her house in Sector 18 of Jagadhri city of Yamunanagar district. The robbers also stole cash and jewellery amounting to Rs 91.73 lakh in the house.

The deceased was identified as Raj Bala, the mother of an Inspector in the Haryana Police, Nirmal Singh, who was posted as detective staff in Panchkula. Balinder Singh, husband of the deceased, in his complaint to the police said he was a lawyer at the Jagadhri court and had gone to the court on Monday. He said that his daughter-in-law, too, had gone out of the city for some work, which is why his wife was alone at home. He further said that when he and his daughter-in-law returned home at around 2 pm, the front doors of their house were shut.

“I called my wife’s phone several times, but there was no response. We entered the house from the back door as the front was locked. When my daughter-in-law went on the first floor of the house, she found her mother-in-law lying dead on the floor in front of the storeroom,” Balinder told the police.
