Road full of potholes
Residents of the Chakkar area in Shimla have to travel on a road full of potholes. The callous attitude of the authorities can be gauged from the fact that the potholes have been there for almost a year. Two-wheeler riders and walkers face a great inconvenience while commuting on the stretch. It is high time the authorities got the the road repaired.

Road in need of repairs
Residents of Pannga village under Riyada panchayat in Kullu district have been urging the authorities to metal the road from Shangchar to Pannga. The village road is dusty and needs immediate repairs. The state government has approved Rs 2.75 crore for the work and the Public Works Department should start the metalling soon. Hukum Chand, Kullu
Check beggary
Recently, I visited the Chintpurni temple. Devotees from far-off places come to pay obeisance at the religious place. But the presence of beggars is something that puts one off. They push devotees while seeking alms and even chase them. There is no one to check them. Notice boards asking the visitors not to give alms to the beggars are of no use as the latter are always pestering people. This should be stopped as it is scarring the beauty of a religious place like Chintpurni.

Low voltage a bane
Residents of Dharwal village in Indora have been battling with the problem of low voltage for the past seven months. They even approached the authorities of the HPSEBL, but nothing happened. The residents also met local MLA Reeta Dhiman twice, but that too did not help. Students are the worst-sufferers as they are unable to study. A new transform should be installed. The authorities should resolve the problem at the earliest as exams are going on. Surinder Thakur, Kangra
