Revival of sports priority of AAP govt: Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer

Sports and Youth Services Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today said reviving sports culture in the state had been the topmost priority of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
“The Punjab Government will ensure that players, who excelled in their respective sports, will be encouraged by awarding them cash prizes,” adding that the state government would also formulate an effective policy to provide sports equipment to sportspersons.
Hayer was at Punjab Bhawan here to meet the winners of Khelo India Games 2022. He exhorted the sportspersons to work hard to make Punjab number one state in sports.
The minister stated that in the Punjab Budget, which was recently presented, the annual budget for sports had been increased to Rs 223 crore, which would give a great boost in promoting sports.
He said under the policy, gold medalists of Khelo India Games would be awarded Rs 50,000, silver medalists Rs 30,000 and bronze medalists will get Rs 20,000.
