The resentment among ticket aspirants and their supporters after the announcement of candidates has failed to subside.

49 office-bearers resign

The BJP state executive member, Sanjay Chhokker, a ticket aspirant from Samalkha, resigned from the party while the president of Shahri Mandal, Samalkha, Naresh Kaushik ,along with 49 office-bearers of the BJP also resigned from the post. Kaushik submitted his resignation letter to district party president Dushyant Bhatt. He stated that the BJP had fielded a parachute candidate from Samalkha and ignored the dedicated party workers.

Sources said senior BJP leaders had started pacifying them to control damage to the party at this peak time ahead of the Assembly elections.

On Friday, BJP’s state executive member Sanjay Chhokker, a ticket aspirant from Samalkha, resigned from the party while the president of Shahri Mandal, Samalkha, along with 49 office-bearers of the BJP also resigned from the post.

Chhokker, who joined the BJP after leaving the Congress around two years ago, was also an aspirant for the ticket from Samalkha Assembly constituency.

He was preparing to contest the Assembly elections from Samalkha after joining the party. But, the party declared Manmohan Bhadana, son of former minister Kartar Singh Bhadana from Samalkha on Wednesday evening.On Thursday, hundreds of supporters of Shashikant showed resentment against the BJP decision and held a meeting.

Chhokker raised his voice against the list of nominees and sent his resignation letter to BJP state president Mohan Lal Badoli on Friday.

The BJP Shahri Mandal president, Samalkha, Naresh Kaushik, too, submitted his resignation letter to district party president Dushyant Bhatt. He stated that the BJP had fielded a parachute candidate from Samalkha and ignored the dedicated party workers.

He, along with his 49 executive committee members, resigned from their posts in the BJP on Friday. Dushyant Bhatt, BJP’s district president confirmed the resignation of the Samalkha Shehri Mandal team. “All party workers are equally respected in the BJP and the party leadership will pacify the agitated workers,” Bhatt said.
