Research methodology event for young faculty

A two-week capacity building programme sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on research methodology for young faculty in social sciences was recently organised by Department of Geography, Himachal Pradesh University.

The main objective of the programme was to foster a rationale research culture among young faculty, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to the field of social sciences. As many as 26 faculty members from five states and one union territory were part of the event, the valedictory function for which was held on October 4.

Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Aparna Negi was the chief guest at the event, while Associate Professor (Political Science) Joginder Singh Saklani was the guest of honour.

During her address, Prof Negi emphasised the significance of methodology in research, particularly in the realm of social sciences.

She said well-structured methodologies enhanced research quality and contributed to the academic growth of faculty members.

Negi also highlighted the relevance of such programmes in equipping faculty with the necessary skills to conduct impactful research.
