Asking people to elect the INLD- BSP alliance, BSP supremo Mayawati on Friday charged the Congress and the BJP with trying to end the reservation and following policies that were anti-Dalit and anti-poor. Seeking a caste-based census, she said a political change was needed to continue the reservation and an end the exploitation and atrocities on the poor.

Speaking at a rally in Prithla, Mayawati focused her speech on the issue of reservation and the exploitation of the SCs, backward classes and the poor. She said she had been concerned about the fate of reservation after the recent judgement of the Supreme Court in which the reservation had become “ineffective” and none of the main parties came forward for a Bill in Parliament to counter it.

Accusing both the BJP and the Congress she said: “Only 5-6 per cent of the people belonging to SC/ST have benefited to date. The majority have still been a victim of exploitary and anti-Dalit policies of the respective governments.

She announced that Abhay Chautala would be the CM if alliance came to power and said he would have two Deputy CMs of whom one will be from the SC category. She said the BSP did not announce any election manifesto as it believed in turning the promises into a reality.
