Around 15 Class IV government employees in Kangra, who were reinstated following a Himachal Pradesh High Court order, are yet to receive their salaries, according to Rajinder Minhas, District President of the Government Employees’ Union of Kangra.

In a press release today, Minhas stated that these employees were reinstated last month as per the court’s ruling in the Satya Devi case, which determined that Class IV employees should retire at the age of 60, regardless of their appointment date. Previously, those appointed before June 2001 retired at 60, while those hired after 2001 retired at 58.

Following the court’s ruling, many Class IV employees who had retired at 58 challenged their retirement and were subsequently reinstated. However, Minhas pointed out that while other districts have set up service accounts for these employees, allowing them to receive their salaries, the treasury officials in Kangra have not done so. As a result, the reinstated employees are working without pay.

Minhas called on the government to instruct Kangra’s treasury officials to create the necessary accounts, ensuring that the employees receive their due salaries.
