Rape accused arrested

The Gurugram police arrested a youth today who allegedly committed rape a year ago and was at large.

Inspector Amit Kumar, in-charge of the crime branch in Sector 40, Gurugram, said he managed to arrest the absconding rape accused Sanjeev Kumar Kamat, a resident of Bardaha village of Madhubani district (Bihar). Kamat was nabbed from Madhubani.

On July 16, 2023, a woman had lodged a complaint at the Badshahpur police station, Gurugram, alleging Kamat of raping her. She further alleged that he had also threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to the police. A case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

He has been handed over to the Badshahpur police for further investigations.
