While Gurugram continues to hit the headlines for its civic crises and air quality issues, Haryana Forest and Environment and Industry Minister Rao Narbir has promised to take the city to the list of top 10 in the country.

People deserve better

People are paying the highest taxes in the state and deserve a lot better. Plan your projects in a way that they get the best quality at minimum prices. We need to give them their money back in the form of development” — Rao Narbir, Industry Minister

Charing a meeting of the officials of Manesar Municipal Corporation, Narbir asked them to work towards the goal with every single penny from the public exchequer being utilised for the city’s development. “They are paying the highest taxes in the state and deserve a lot better. Plan your projects in a way that they get the best quality at minimum prices. We need to give them their money back in the form of development.”

“There can be no excuse for a city like Gurugram to be suffering waste crises, poor roads and air pollution due to random fires. This is unacceptable. Pull your act together,” said Narbir.

He emphasised on the need for sewerage treatment of residential societies falling in the jurisdiction of the municipal authorities and ordered penalisation of defaulters.

“Everybody has got enough time. The societies need to have their own STPs and be responsible for their waste. Please conduct surveys and get them to comply. The city has to be cleaned and all will have to play a role,” said Narbir.
