Rao Inderjit Singh’s clout in Ahirwal helps BJP win 6 of 7 seats
Giving a free hand to Union Minister and Ahir stalwart Rao Inderjit Singh worked in improving the BJP’s performance in Ahirwal, especially Rewari and Mahendragarh districts, as the saffron party won six out of seven seats there.
The seat tally was five in the previous Assembly polls held in 2019. Rao again proved his dominance in the region as all his supporters emerged victorious from here. He extensively carried out a campaign for the BJP candidates in the area during the elections.
BJP’s Laxman Singh Yadav wrested Rewari seat from the Congress by defeating its candidate Chiranjeev Rao, son of the Congress OBC Department national president Capt Ajay Yadav, by a considerable margin of 28,769 votes. Laxman was shifted to Rewari from Kosli to contest the polls. He got 83,747 votes and Chiranjeev polled 54,978 votes while AAP’s Satish Yadav and Independent Prashant Sunny Yadav managed to secure 18,427 and 7,787 votes, respectively.
Anil Yadav and Dr Krishan Kumar, other loyalists of Rao Inderjit, registered victory by a comfortable margin from Kosli and Bawal (reserve) constituencies of Rewari district, respectively. Anil defeated former minister and Congress’ Jagdish Yadav by margin of 17,160 votes. He got 91,833 votes and Jagdish polled 74,673 votes while Independent candidate Manoj Kosliya secured 7,288 votes.
Similarly, Dr Krishan Kumar, former Director (Health Service), romped home in the debut poll battle by defeating the Congress’ veteran and former minister Dr Muni Lal Ranga with a margin of 20,011 votes. Krishan got 86,858 votes and Ranga secured 66,847 votes.
Rao Inderjit’s daughter Arti Singh Rao registered victory over the BSP’s Thakur Attar Lal by 3,085 votes in a neck-and-neck contest. She polled 57,735 votes, Attar Lal got 54,652 votes and the Congress’ Anita Yadav managed to get 30,037 votes.
The BJP lost only one seat in Mahendragarh district and that was of Nangal Choudhary, where former Irrigation Minister and two-time MLA Abhe Singh Yadav lost to Congress’ Manju Choudhary by a margin of 6,930 votes. Manju polled 61,989 votes and Yadav got 55,059 votes.
The BJP wrested the Mahendragarh seat from the Congress. BJP’s Kanwar Singh Yadav defeated Congress’ Rao Dan Singh from here by a margin of 2,648 votes. Yadav got 63,036 votes and Rao polled 60,388 votes while Independent candidate Sandeep Singh managed to secure 20,834 votes. Former minister Om Prakash Yadav made a hat-trick by winning the Narnaul seat by a margin of 17,171 votes. He defeated former minister and Congress’ nominee Rao Narendra from here. Yadav got 57,635 votes and Rao polled 40,464 votes while AAP nominee Ravinder Matru managed to secure 6,188 votes.
