Rally calls for empowerment of persons with disability
The International Day of Persons with Disability was observed at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) on Tuesday. An awareness rally was taken out and a street play was staged, which advocated for inclusion, dignity and empowerment for persons with disability.
The events were organised by the Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) at the MDU. Dean, Academic Affairs AS Maan and Registrar Gulshan Lal Taneja flagged off the rally. Speaking on the occasion, they gave a clarion call for an inclusive society that gave persons with disability their due.
Students of the centre took out the rally and staged the street play at various venues on the university campus. Chief Consultant, CDS, Radhey Shyam; Incharge, CDS, Pratima Ranga; Deputy Director Kapil Malhotra and instructors of the centre guided the students in the programme.
