Rain lashes Panipat, waterlogged roads inconvenience residents

Heavy rain created problems for residents as several colonies and main roads got waterlogged today. A total of 36 mm rainfall was recorded in Panipat. Meanwhile, a dip in temperature was recorded but the humidity made things worse for the people.
It began raining in the wee hours and continued the whole day. The residential and commercial areas, including Model Town, Bishan Saroop Colony, Sukhdev Nagar, Sectors 11-12, Gohana Road, Assandh Road, Sanoli Road and several colonies in the Tehsil camp area and outer colonies, were submerged causing inconvenience to the residents. In Model Town, almost all roads were submerged and the people had to face difficulty as the roads were under construction here.
The blocked sewer lines in some residential and markets had added to the problem here. The tall claims of the Municipal Corporation (MC) that the drains in the city were cleaned before the monsoon season fell flat today. Although, the water was drained out after the rain stopped.
As per the details available, Madlauda recorded the highest rainfall today, which is 50mm. Panipat recorded 36mm, Samalkha 11mm, Israna recorded 10 mm and Bapoli recorded 33.5mm.
