Railway Police seize gold worth Rs 1.30 crore at Jalandhar Cantt
The Railway Police Force (RPF) on Monday confiscated gold worth Rs 1.30 crore from a person at Jalandhar Cantt railway station.
According to officials, the total weight of the seized gold is around 2.90 kg. Despite prolonged questioning, the person could not provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the source or destination of the gold. Consequently, he was taken into custody, and the gold was impounded, they added.
Later, the Income Tax Department was informed and the case was handed over to them for further investigation.
“The Income Tax Department is currently conducting a detailed inquiry to determine the origins of the gold and the purpose behind its transport. Legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of this investigation,” said RPF officials.
