The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday claimed to have recovered nearly 8-kg gold from the possession of four men, travelling in a train. Ambala RPF post incharge Javed Khan said following a tip-off, an inspection was carried out in A1, B1 and B3 coaches of Amritsar Howrah mail during which four men denied getting their bags checked. They claimed that they were carrying artificial jewellery. During checking gold jewellery around 8.84-kg and gold-plated artificial jewellery 5.4-kg were recovered. The suspects were carrying some handwritten bills. The information has been shared with the Income Tax Department and further verification is ongoing. The market value of the recovered items is said to be about Rs 4.50 crore.
