Rail Swachhta Pakhwada organised at Amritsar railway station
Under the Indian Railway’s ongoing “Swachhta Pakhwada” campaign, trains were thoroughly cleaned at the Amritsar railway station here on Sunday.
The Railways is running the campaign from October 1 to October 15 to realize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi and fulfil his commitment towards cleanliness.
Under the cleanliness drive, special attention was paid to cleanliness of all passenger trains originating from the Amritsar railway station. The cleaning of trains, toilets inside them and pantry cars was also done. The toilets of trains were cleaned through the mechanized system. The outer surfaces of trains were wiped. The garbage and plastic collected from the trains were disposed of properly.
The leakage of water taps in train coaches was checked and faulty ones were repaired immediately. The fitting of electrical equipment installed in trains and their detailed cleaning was ensured. Extensive cleaning of trains was done washing pit lines of the railway station. Officials and supervisors monitored the cleanliness work in trains and interacted with staff for better cleaning results. During the drive, posters related to “what to do and what not to do” were put up inside trains to keep coaches and the railway premises clean. Passengers were exhorted through the public address system to maintain cleanliness.
