‘Rail roko’ stir: SAD (A) Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann under house arrest
Sangrur, March 4
In view of the ‘rail roko’ agitation by SAD(A) on the issues of release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ and ‘atrocities’ on farmers, president of the party and Sangrur MP Simranjit Singh Mann was today confined to his residence at Baguana Enclave by the police here. Sangrur DSP Manoj Gorsi confirmed the development.
The MP said whenever he raised voice in favour of farmers or Sikhs, the police imposed restrictions on his movement and did not allow him to move out of his house. He said no major project or special financial package had been given by the Centre to Punjab in the past 10 years.
Meanwhile, a group of 25 workers of SAD (A), led by its organising secretary Gurnaib Singh Rampura, was rounded up in the morning by the police at Mullowal village when they were going to take part in the agitation. They were taken to Sadar police station, Dhuri, from where they were released in the evening.
